Observations from the President

About this time every year, we hear a lot about "ringing out the old and ringing in the new." This year those words weren't merely for welcoming in a new year, but also a new century; indeed, a new millennium. Frankly, I heard the words, "new" and "millennium" so often they became stale and nearly meaningless.

What can easily be forgotten in our zeal to celebrate the new is our need to honor the "old;" those traditions and practices that got us to where we are today. For Briad, those "old" traditions and practices are best summed up in two words: guest satisfaction. What continues to distinguish Briad is our commitment to serving our guests. The dawn of a new era will never change Briad's award-winning tradition of old-fashioned service. In fact, this tradition behind us has more than prepared us for the new and exciting avenues ahead of us.

The upcoming year will be an exciting one for Briad. We are currently pursuing new opportunities for growth. I am proud of the part each of you has played to get us where we are today - and the part each of you will play tomorrow as we continue moving ahead together. Along the way, let's keep in mind what basketball great Magic Johnson once said, "Excellence is not a destination you arrive at, it is the bench mark for the journey." Thank you again for your commitment to excellence - something we all can savor in Briad's continuing journey to be a taste of the future.
